A Pennsylvania man shot an Instacart driver while he was delivering an order. The shooter’s wife had forgotten to inform him she was expecting the groceries.
Jerrie Wilchombe, 35, an Instacart driver, was shot in the leg by Nicholas Sabo, 43, on January 18 in Newton Township, Pennsylvania, USA. Wilchombe was delivering groceries to Sabo’s residence at the request of the shooter’s wife, who had forgotten to notify her husband.
Vanessa, Sabo’s wife, placed the order through the Instacart app, according to South Abington Police Chief Paul Wolfe.
“(The husband) comes out, sees the individual, and without any verbal confrontation or warning, simply shoots,” Wolfe told McClatchy News.
Wilchombe ran to his car where his wife, Jessica Thomas, and his daughter, Olivia Thomas, were waiting, and called emergency services. The driver was struck in both legs and is currently hospitalized in stable condition.
Officers who spoke with Vanessa after the incident reported to the Times Tribune that she was in a state of shock. Nicholas Sabo’s firearm was confiscated by the police, and he was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment.
He is facing a preliminary hearing on January 29, and the case remains under investigation.
